About

I was born and raised in rural south-central Ohio about an hour south of Columbus. Shortly after obtaining a BA in Early Childhood Education from Wilmington College of Ohio, I taught K-4 Intervention in the Greenfield Exempted Village School District in Greenfield, Ohio for one year. After a year teaching in my native Ohio, I relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina after accepting a teaching position in the Wake County Public School System.

In Raleigh, I taught 3rd grade several years at Wilburn Year-Round Elementary  later teaching 4th and 5th grades at Powell GT Magnet Elementary along with completing my administrative internship. I obtained my graduate degree in School Administration from NC State University.

I was the IRT and testing coordinator at Wendell Creative Arts and Science Magnet Elementary in Wendell, North Carolina for a few years prior to serving in my current role of Assistant Principal at Carroll Leadership in Technology Magnet Middle School in Raleigh.

In addition to my work in our school district, I’m involved in educational policy assisting with education advocacy organizations Public Schools First NC and the Public School Forum of North Carolina.

I serve as a “core warrior” within Marlena Gross-Taylor’s EduGladiators organization aiming to improve educational practices for all stakeholders on the national stage.

Outside of my profession, I proudly serve on Wilmington College’s Alumni Council and am a member of the Wake County Historic Preservation Commission.
